REASI, Nov 15: The pilgrimage to the world famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine was interrupted today when pony operators and Pithus staged a strong protest against November 13 order of National Green Tribunal.  (Click here to watch video)
Hundreds of labourers comprising Pony operators and Pithus assembled at Vaishno Devi track this morning and protested against the NGT order on opening new track for battery car
The protesting workers, under the leadership of Bhupinder Singh, raised slogans against the NGT and threatened to intensify their struggle if the controversial order is not revoked by November 24.
The protesters also took out a rally from Shalimaar Garden and passed through main bazar before reaching at Fawwara Chowk, where a demonstration was held.
Due to the protest, pilgrims on either side of the track had to face hard situation for couple of hours as the Pony-Palki operators and Pithus on the route refused to work   saying their livelihood would be hit if the NGT order is implemented.
