JAMMU, June 3: Demanding permanent solution of their issues and re-engagement of the terminated staff, All J&K Polytechnic Academic Arrangements Association has announced to go on strike from June 5 in Jammu Division.
Decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of Academic Arrangement staff members of various polytechnics, held at Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk Jammu.
The meeting was chaired by Atul Sudan, president of All J&K Polytechnic Academic Arrangements Association, who highlighted the grievances and demands of the staff engaged under Academic Arrangements.
“That Academic Arrangements are back bone of the department and they comprise 80 percent of teaching staff in polytechnics. They have given many crucial years of their life for the department and many of them have become over aged while serving the department, which is now playing very cheap tactics by terminating them one by one,” he said.
“Instead of making any regularization policy for them as assured by previous Chief Minister, Technical Education Minister and officials are using the means of transfers and new postings to terminate the Academic Arrangements,” he added and lamented that those who had served department for many years, that too on very meagre salary of 6500 and 7000, were now being asked to quit because permanent staff by transfers is joining on their respective post.
Claiming that all the Academic Arrangements, who were continuing on their posts, were doing the same on court directions according to which they are allowed to work till judgment regarding their PIL filed for the regularization, Atul Sudan alleged that the department was getting personal with the Academic Arrangements and violating the court orders. “Now the Association has unanimously decided to go on strike till all terminated staff is re-joined by the department and permanent solution of our issue is given,” he said and added that the department also cheated them on salary enhancement issue despite an assurance by the Technical Minister on the same.
The meeting was attended by Ankush Gupta, Umesh Gupta, Kanav Gupta, Sanjeev Choudary, Vicky Sharma, Rakesh Bhatt, Atul Kodhi, Gagan Partap, Harmeet Kour, Renu Kotwal, Itika Sharma, Pooja Gupta, Renuka Rajput, Noshiba, Ruchi Gupta, Shivali Sharma and others.
