Polluting industrial units

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Industrial units violating pollution norms will be shut’ DE Aug 2.
It is laudable that the Minister for Forests, Environment, has taken note of the seriousness of the issue, and warned that the industrial units not adhering to pollution norms would be shut with immediate effect. As the pollution levels, water, soil and air are increasing day by day, it is a matter of concern as it is impacting the fragile eco system we are living in.
It is not only in the interest of the State but also in the interest of industrial units as well, that these units take measures to overcome pollution. Though these units are supposed to have pollution control mechanism in place, and are bound by environment protection laws. They hardly care about them. Most of these units flout rules on one pretext or the other. In case no action is taken against them, it will have serious impact on the ecosystem. Global warming, with its harmful effects is becoming a reality with every passing day. We can ignore global warming only on our peril.
Yours etc…..
