SRINAGAR : Polling to elect 14th President of the country was underway in summer capital, Srinagar, where 87 members of the Legislative Assembly are eligible to cast their vote.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and working president of the Opposition National Conference Omar Abdullah was among the first to cast his vote when the polling began here at 1000 hrs.
However, media persons were not allowed to go inside.
J&K has 87 votes and each vote has a value of 72 as per the population census of 1971 which will continue till 2026.
Therefore the total value of votes for Jammu and Kashmir is 6,264. (AGENCIES)
