KATHUA, July 15: The activists of political and social organizations came on streets to raise strong protest against murder of Deepak Kumar who was killed by some goons some days back and whose assailants are still at large.
The family members of the slain youth Deepak Kumar of Badala supported by BJP and Vishav Hindu Sangthan activists raised strong protest demonstration and blocked the college road in front of DC Office, Kathua against the police, which failed to arrest the prime accused in murder case. They blocked the college road and raised anti police slogans. The traffic was suspended on college road and police diverted the vehicles to other routes following traffic jam due to protest demonstration. The protestors sat on dharna in front of DC Office and raised slogans against murder accused and demanded that they should be hanged while condemning the brutal killing of innocent youth Deepak Kumar by criminals belonging to Gujjar community. They asked the police to arrest all involved accused as police has failed to arrest the three absconders. Click here to watch video
They said that these Gujjars are also involved in drugs smuggling and drug peddling. The BJP district president, Raghunandan Singh and Prem Nath Dogra also asked the DC Kathua to vacate the State land encroached by Gujjar families in the village Badala and Maggar Khud, Sahar Khud , Tarnah Nallah, Ujh and Ravi river . But the district administration has failed to do the same and made poor people a soft target. But Gujjars have encroached hundreds Canals of land . They said “Why not administration is taking strong steps against them’’. They asked the district administration to start anti encroachment drive and arrest the absconding accused.
The Deputy Commissioner Kathua, O P Bhagat and Additional SP Ramnish Gupta reached on the protest site and assured the people to take necessary steps to arrest the culprits. However, Kathua police claimed that one accused involved in murder case has been arrested and he is identified as Wali Mohd alias Billi son of Ghulam –ud-Din, resident of village Badala. The police team is also on job to arrest the remaining accused.
