Political parties must show resolve to fight against terrorism:Venka

HYDERABAD, Feb 23:
Condemning the twin bomb blasts at Dilsukhnagar in the city, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said all political parties should show unity by setting aside their differences and demonstrate a strong resolve to fight against terrorism for the sake of security of the nation and public safety.
Addressing a press conference here after visiting twin blast sites at Dilsukhnagar and meeting the injured in various hospitals in the city, he alleged that the UPA Government and Union Home Ministry were incompetent and were indifferent to nation’s security.
The central and state government’s had failed to act on inputs given by the intelligence wings that members of a terrorist organisation made a recce of Dilsukhnagar, he said and alleged that the government’s approach on the alert message was usual and casual due to lack of political ‘will’ to combat terror.
“The US has successfully tackled terror after 9/11 attacks,” he said and alleged that it was the Union Home Minister who politicised terrorism for vote bank politics.
“Terrorists get emboldened when these attacks do not lead to successful prosecution,” the senior leader said and claimed there were no convictions in earlier terrorist attacks that occurred in Hyderabad since 1991.
Hyderabad had become a ‘lame duck’ for terror attacks, he
Claimed and said Jihadi organisations had found Hyderabad as safe launching base.
Mr Naidu said there was need to set up fast track courts  for trial of terrorist attack cases and failure to act fast  and prompt on such cases would lead increase in terrorist activities.
The Central and State Governments should release a ‘white paper’ on the steps being taken after inputs on terror  organisations provided by the intelligence wings, he demanded.
He also appealed the Andhra Pradesh Government to conduct house-to-house survey to ascertain those who were providing  either shelter or funding to terrorist organisations.
It was unfortunate that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy made a statement that no specific inputs were received over terror, he said and added that most of the agencies, including special task force, Octopus and intelligence agencies were working in Andhra Pradesh state capital and the government  should utilize their services for the interest of public  security instead of using for monitoring of party legislators’ moments.
The government was bound to explain the facts to the public that why it did not act promptly even though the intelligence and Delhi police had altered them about the recce carried out by Indian Mujahideen (IM) militants at Dilsukhnagar, Begum Bazar and Abids in Hyderabad on a motorcycle before Ramzan in 2012, he added.
