JAMMU, Aug 7: Provincial President National Conference, Devender Singh Rana today said that party has an active agenda for political empowerment of weaker sections and called for larger participation of people belonging to these segments in governance and decision making.
Mr Rana was addressing a function wherein Narinder Dutt, general secretary, All Jammu and Kashmir Megh Sudhar Sabha along with large number of his supporters joined National Conference.
“Social justice and economic emancipation of the underprivileged classes is corner stone of the cherished agenda of National Conference”, Mr Rana said and attributed the spurt in joining of prominent social activists, belonging to vast mass of society, into National Conference as a logical and positive development.
“The relentless public service and contribution towards progress and development of the State has been a motivating factor for bringing cross section of people within the party fold. Strengthening of National Conference is in the overall interests of the State besides marginalizing communal and divisive elements”, he maintained.
He said his party’s commitment to welfare and economic emancipation of the weaker sections has further been reinforced after the revolutionary decisions taken in recent years, as also in the past, for opening of vistas of opportunities in different spheres of activity across the State. He said Omar Abdullah led Coalition Government has been working towards faster development and progress of all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides their sub-regions.
“Progress of Jammu and Kashmir will be meaningless unless every segment of society gets equal share in development”, he said.
