Srinagar, Dec 11: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh today said that only a few foreign militants who infiltrated recently are active in North Kashmir while Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that a foreign militant who was assisted by two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) carried out an attack in Bandipora yesterday.
Speaking to reporters in Sopore, Singh said police have got the initial clues with regard to the attack and it is working to identify the involved militants.
“Police with the support of security forces have been protecting people and ensuring their well-being, which doesn’t suit the militants, thus they are attacking the police force,” he said.
Asked about the number of foreign militants active in north Kashmir, Singh said that the number is not too high, but in the recent infiltrations, some of the militants have intruded.
“Police is keeping an eye on them. Some of them have been killed while the remaining will be neutralised soon,” he added.
Dilbag said that main motive of the Pakistani sponsored militants is to kill someone and harm the lives of people and their property.
The DGP said that police along with other security agencies work for the security and safety of people so the police come to the target. “We have been fighting this war from last 30 years and it is our responsibility to protect the lives and property of people.”
