Police Sub-Inspector caught accepting bribe

SRINAGAR, Aug 14: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Sub Inspector Farooq Ahmad Abassi of Police Station Batamaloo, who was caught red handed while accepting bribe from truck driver.
Sub-Inspector Farooq Ahmad Abassi, son of Mohammad Akbar Abassi of Binyar Uri Baramulla, presently posted in P/S Batamaloo, was arrested after a successful trap by ACB, which was laid following written complaint by a truck driver, who had parked his trawler near Batamaloo Srinagar. He was approached by the Sub Inspector who asked him to produce the documents of the vehicle. Even as the complainant showed the relevant documents to the Sub Inspector, the latter demanded a bribe of Rs 3000 to return back the same.
Acting on written complaint of the driver, a case FIR No.09 of 2020 U/S 13 & 7 PC Act r/w 161 IPC was registered in Police Station ACB Srinagar. Accordingly a trap was laid near Kaman Post Batamaloo Srinagar and the Sub inspector was caught red handed while receiving the bribe money of Rs 3000 in lieu of releasing the documents of the said vehicle which he had retained with him without any reason or rhyme.
