KATHUA, Aug 16: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today recovered 194 bottles of Siorex cough syrup like contraband and seized 15 liters of Illicit liquor within the district and three persons were arrested.
Police said today a team of Police Post (PP) Hatli led by Inspector, Yash Paul Sharma IC PP Hatli under the supervision of DySP Headquarter, Kathua Shammi Kumar conducted a raid at Maggar Khad area and apprehended two persons namely Ram Dass, son of Nand Lal of Ward No. 13 Hatli Morh Kathua and Arif Hussain, son of Ilyas of Dhanore.
During checking, 194 Siorex corex syrup (Codeine Phosphate) bottles, were recovered from their illegal possession. They were later on arrested by the police party on spot and the contraband was seized. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 380/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act got registered at Police Station (PS) Kathua and further investigation was taken up.
Meanwhile police from reliable sources came to know that one person namely Ajay Kumar son of Kala Ram of Rampur is doing the trade of illicit liquor at Link Road Chhabe Chak. Acting on the same, a team of PS Rajbagh led by Inspector, Bopinder Singh SHO PS Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border Sachit Mahajan conducted a raid at Rampur village and apprehended him.
During checking approximately 15 liters of illicit liquor has been recovered which was purportedly kept to be sold in the adjoining area among general public to gain illegitimate profit. Thereafter, all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized and accused was arrested. In this regard, a case vide FIR No 154/2021 U/S 48(a) (f) Excise Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation of the case is going on.
