Police rescues 46 bovines, seizes 2 trucks

KATHUA, Oct 24: In continuation to thwart the conspiracies of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) Rajbagh and Hiranagar and rescued 46 bovines and seized two vehicles involved in the commission of aforesaid crime.
Police said it was reliably learnt that one truck bearing Registration Number AS25EC/7757 was coming from Punjab towards Jammu in which bovines were tied in illegal manner. Acting on the information police team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO, PS Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan- laid a naka at Rajbagh. On seeing naka party driver of the vehicle parked the vehicle far behind the naka point and managed to fled away. During checking of the vehicle 26 bovines were found loaded in it illegally.
By taking this cognizance case FIR No. 208/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
In another instance during checking at Londi Morh naka, police team led by Inspector, Anil Sharma, SHO PS Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan checked truck bearing Registration Number JK02AS 8717 driven by Mohammad. Aftab, son of Zakir Hussain of Tulli, tehsil, Chasana, district. Reasi and found the truck loaded with 17 bovine animals (11 cows and 6 oxen) illegally. The bovines were brutally tied with ropes. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on the spot. In this connection a case FIR No. 140/2021 U/S 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Hiranagar.
