KATHUA, June 1: District police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today foiled bovine smuggling attempt at NHW opposite to Police Station (PS) Rajbagh, rescued 20 bovines, arrested one person and seized four vehicles involved in smuggling of bovines.
Police said at about 03:45 hours a police team headed by Inspector, Amit Sangra, SHO PS Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan while on Naka checking duty at NHW opposite to PS Rajbagh noticed two suspicious vehicles (Mahindra load carriers) bearing Registration Number JK08L-8127 & JK08L-5795 enrouted from Lakhanpur side towards Jammu which were being driven by two persons.
On thorough checking, police team was able to found five bovines from one Mahindra Vehicle which was being driven by a person namely Kalu son of Feroz Din of Pathankot Punjab, six bovines were recovered from another vehicle which was being driven by unknown person who managed to fled away from spot. On thorough checking police team rescued 11 bovines which were being transported without any legal permission.
Thereafter all the 11 bovines were rescued, one person was arrested and two vehicles involved were seized. Accordingly a case FIR No. 116/2022 U/S 188/ IPC, 11PCA act was registered at Police Station Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
While in another instance yesterday a police team of PS Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan and Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO PS Rajbagh while on naka checking duty near NHW Rajbagh noticed two another suspicious vehicles bearing Registration Numbers JK02CT-7104 and PB35U-7704 which were being driven by two unknown persons who were indulged in transportation /smuggling of Bovines from Lakhanpur side towards Jammu. On thorough checking four more bovines were rescued from the vehicle and five bovines were rescued from another vehicle. Thereafter all the nine bovines were rescued and two vehicles were seized on the spot.
A case vide FIR No. 117/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been set into probe.
