RAJOURI, June 25: In a strong action against illegal transportation of bovine animals, Thannamandi Police seized a vehicle and rescued 17 cattle today.
Official sources said that police party led by DySP (Prob.) Ahtesham Ahmed Khan, SHO Thannamandi, under the close supervision of SDPO Thannamandi, Parupkar Singh intercepted one vehicle involved in bovine smuggling during a routine naka checking at Thanna bridge.
The Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK11D-3010 was stopped at Upper Thannamandi Bridge. During checking, 17 bovine animals were found, transported without any valid permit or legal documentation.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Aslam, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Nagrota in district Rajouri.
In this connection a case FIR No. 86/2025 has been registered under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 PCA Act at Police Station, Thannamandi. The vehicle was seized and the animals were rescued. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other individuals.
