Casual labourers of Wildlife project demands

SRINAGAR, June 25: Casual labourers of the Wildlife Department, Kashmir, held a protest today, demanding immediate resolution of their long-pending issues, including service benefits and regularization.
Held under the banner of the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-R), the protest was led by Babu Hussain Malik, president of EJAC-R, and Muzafer Nabi, general secretary.
Addressing the gathering, the leaders unanimously voiced their concern over the continued neglect of the genuine demands of casual labourers working across various departments in J&K.
The speakers stressed that despite rendering decades of dedicated service under harsh conditions, these labourers are still awaiting regularisation, timely wages, and basic service benefits.
In his address, Malik stated that these workers are the backbone of many Government departments, especially in the Wildlife wing, where they are involved in strenuous and sensitive assignments.
“It is unfortunate that their issues remain unresolved despite repeated assurances.”
Muzafer emphasized the need for a time-bound policy for the regularisation of all eligible casual labourers across J&K, and appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary to intervene in the matter.
