SRINAGAR, May 23: Police today registered a case against Army in Central Kashmir health resort of Sonamarg for beating up police men on Srinagar-Leh National Highway.
The Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, Shahid Merah told Excelsior that Police registered a case (under FIR No. 03/2014 under Sections 452,392,147,148,332 and 307 RPC) against Army for beating up three police men. He said that investigations are going on.
Giving details of the incident, the SP said that three police men were managing traffic on Srinagar-Leh traffic outside Police Station Sonmarg when Army men from High Altitude Warfare School wanted that their vehicles should be allowed to cross the barrier first.
Meraj said that there was heated argument between police and Army men during which three police men were beaten by Army men. He said that two of them received minor injuries and have been hospitalized.
Soon after the incident local shopkeepers, drivers protested at Sonamarg market and demanded action against the culprits.
The SP rushed to the spot to resolve the issue.
