KATHUA, Oct 24: Hundreds of police recruits held protest demonstration at Police Training Centre in Kathua district for the second consecutive day today demanding abolishing of SRO 202.
As per SRO 202, the new recruits will get a meagre salary, the protesters said while raising slogans in support of their demand.  “The Government has fixed the salary criteria under SRO 202 and new salary under the provision is not sufficient to meet our daily needs,” a protesting recruit here said over telephone.
Terming the SRO 202 totally unjustified, the protesters said they have to work for 24 hours under odd circumstances and hence paying meagre salary is totally injustice with them. Besides, they have no job security and family security under SRO 202 which should be looked into.
They said that if Government wants to rehabilitate them they need all perks and benefits as per past rules.
They demanded abolishing of the SRO for better perks. Meanwhile as per official apart from seeking abolishing of SRO 202, the recruits were also demanding holding of passing out parade as their training period is over and they must be deployed at the earliest.
However, police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the situation following which they peacefully dispersed.
