Srinagar, Sept 9: In a major crackdown on contraband smugglers, Rafiabad police arrested two persons and recovered 700 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 70 lakh in the international market.
A police team under supervision of SDPO, Rafiabad Shabir Ahmad Khan intercepted a Car near Hadipora and questioned one Ashiq Khan son Ghulam Mohammad Khan of Zurhama.
The car was stopped on specific information about Brown sugar smuggling. During the questioning and search of the car around 700 grams of brown sugar worth 70 lakhs at international market was recovered.
The duo is being questioned and further investigation is on. A case (Fir no 53 under 8/25) is lodged at police station Panzulla Rafiabad under 8/25 NDPS Act.
