RAMBAN, Mar 16: Police here today foiled a narcotic smuggling bid at T-Chowk Naka in Banihal after arresting a man with Poppy Straw like substance.
On a routine checking duty, a team of cops from Police Station Banihal stopped a bus bearing registration number JK14B/9307 coming from Kashmir and proceeding towards Banihal for checking.
During checking cops found 5 kg Poppy Straw like substance from the bus.
On enquiry, the driver disclosed his identity as Paramjeet Singh son of Hardev Singh resident of Garhi, Rambal, Udhampur.
In this regard, a case in FIR number 62/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation was entrusted to PSI Arjun Choudhary.
The accused was arrested on spot after completing legal formalities.
The recovery and arrest were made by cops of Police Station Banihal under the guidance of Inspector Mohd. Afzal Wani, SHO Banihal under the supervision of Nissar Khoja, SDPO Banihal with overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, SSP Ramban.
