Raids were carried out at Chochal, Gagrian, Chambar, Sabjian and some other villages in Poonch.
Separate police teams led by Additional SP Poonch Mohan Sharma simultaneously carried out raids at the premises of terrorists of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) during the day today.
All eight locations searched by the police personnel belonged to the terrorists who had exfiltrated to Pakistan and PoJK and are now operating from there.
“Some digital devices and documents have been recovered from the premises searched during the day,” the sources said, adding they will be sent for detailed examination to ascertain whether the terrorists operating from Pakistan and PoJK are in touch with their families or not.
Sources said police launched the simultaneous raids as part of a crackdown to dismantle terror infrastructure and thwart attempts by Pakistan-based terrorists to use their contacts for motivating gullible youth to carry out subversive activities.
Earlier this month, police conducted similar raids at over five dozen places in Poonch district against Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
A number of terrorists from Doda and Kishtwar districts have also been carrying out operations from Pakistan and PoJK. Properties of many of them have been attached by police.
There have been reports that some of the terrorists from Pakistan and PoJK continued to motivate local youth to join terrorism though they haven’t succeeded much.
“The terrorists are also trying to radicalize the youth,” the sources said.
