Police Public Mela tomorrow, DGP finalises arrangements

JAMMU, Mar 29: Arrangements for one day Police Public Mela were finalized at a joint meeting of senior police officers and members of Police Parivar held here today. The event is all set to take off on March 31, 2013 at Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground, here.
At the outset of the meeting, the Director General of police (DGP) Ashok Prasad sought reports from all committees constituted for making different arrangements. The meeting was informed that all required arrangements have been completed and are fully prepared to conduct the mega event on the scheduled date. It is expected that a large number of people, representing all walks of life would participate in the Mela.
DGP stressed that in view of the people’s participation sufficient arrangements should be ensured for their convenience and especially the parking of vehicles be ensured in a smooth manner. Traffic arrangements be made in a befitting manner so that people’s participation is made more convenient. Security in and around the venue was discussed and the DGP emphasised that efficient police bandubust should be made for the security of the visiting people.
The meeting was also briefed that the stall holders have reached and are establishing their stalls at the venue. They are ready to display their products for sale in the day long Mela. All the stall holders have been made bound to display the rate lists and put quality products for sale on reasonable rates.
DGP disclosed that the Mela would be inaugurated at 9.30 a.m. and Raffle Draw for 5,606 fabulous prizes including cash prizes would be held at the venue at 4 p.m. He said that entertainment items, tambola besides painting competition for the children and cultural items are the main attractions of the Mela. The prizes would be handed over to the winners on the spot on the production of original tickets, he added.
Members of PWWA also gave some valuable suggestions for making the event a success, which were discussed during the meeting.
Later, the DGP and Chairperson JKPWWA, Kiran Prasad, along with other senior officers visited the venue and inspected the space provided to the stall holders. They took stock of the other arrangement on the spot.

Punchok, Sham Lal Sharma, Shafakat Ahmed Watli, Johny William and Shakeel Ahmed Beig and members of PAWWA.
