JAMMU, Mar 5: Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of Ajit Singh, Forum Chairman and raised their demands.
The protesting retired cops quoted a government order to claim pay anomaly as the benefits were given from the date of the order which was 17-10-2014 while the same should be from the year 1996, when the fifth pay commission was implemented across J&K.
They further quoted a circular which stated that retired cops should be attended very well in case of their grievances and problems, but presently the SHOs do not bother much and the purpose of such circulars is defeated.
The protesting cops also claimed that as per another such circular SHOs of the area were advised to attend last rites of the deceased cops, but the same is not being done.
They demanded medical allowances at par with other Union Territories of the country and 10 per cent reservation in admission in professional colleges and in recruitments for the children of cops.
