The involvement of some policemen in illegal activities, and their nexus with militants is a cause of concern for national security. The news item has not come as a surprise for people as there are numerous instances of policemen involved in these activities.
Some of them have been unearthed by the Police Department. Besides, the police has not ruled out the possibility of more men involved in such activities.
Therefore, it is high time that the Police Department launches a vigorous campaign to purge the department of these elements.
Public poses great trust in police. It is on this trust that people breather in an atmosphere of security. If any way this trust breaks, people will live in constant fear and will always blow before the diktats of anti-social elements.
