Police holds school mental health programme

Srinagar, May 19: Police Drug De-addiction Centre today conducted an awareness programme in Candid Higher secondary Institute Nowgam, Srinagar, in which more than 100 students participated in the programme.
A police spokesman said a team of experts from Police Drug De-addiction Centre comprising of Haris Abrar Kashmiri (Psychiatric social worker), Zahid Jeelani and Fidah Hussain (Counseling Psychologists) educated the students about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, Jeelani talked about the Drug Addiction, causes and consequences. He also shared the alarming scenario of drug addiction in the valley.
Later, Haris Abrar Kashmiri talked about the drug de-addiction services initiated by J&K Police in February 2008.
Hussain talked about the stress and its management and also shared the 24×7 Stress Management Helpline number with the audience. He also provided relaxation techniques to the students.
