JAMMU, Dec 30: Police foiled the Civil Secretariat march of the selected warden candidates in jail police of the Prison Department here today.
The selected warden candidates in jail police of the Prison Department, who were sitting on hunger strike for the past 29 days’ started moving towards Civil Secretariat from Press Club in a shape of rally.
The heavy deployment of police resisted them from moving towards Secretariat and a minor scuffle broke out between selected warden candidates and police.
Addressing the gathering, the protesting candidates flayed the callous attitude of the Government towards the selected candidates.
The protestors were demanding release of the final selected candidates, which was pending for the last more than three years due to the reason best known to the concerned authorities.
One of the protesting candidates informed that about 43000 unemployed youth had applied for the post and 1246 candidates were short-listed for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010.
He said that the even after more than three years, the final selection list has not yet been released.
“We had taken up this issue with the Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister, concerned officers and senior leaders of opposition parties, but nothing has been done by them”, he alleged.
The protesting candidates urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene in the matter and redress their demand at the earliest.
