JAMMU, Dec 30: Keeping in view the 1948 UN adopted proclamation for universal declaration of Human Rights protection, the State Government led by Omar Abdullah has no moral right to celebrate the World Human Rights (HR) Day, as it failed to grant citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees residing in the State even after 66 years of partition of the Country, said State president, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Tulsi Dass Langeh.
“NC-Congress Coalition Government in the State has no moral right to celebrate Human Rights Day, as there is blot on its face”, Langeh said, adding the predecessor Coalition Government of PDP- Congress headed by Mufti Mohd Sayeed was equally responsible, as both the Governments failed to grant citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees.
Langeh’s comments came while addressing a series of meeting at Patoli Brahmana, Amb, Ghaink, Kot and Barnai areas of Raipur-Domana Constituency, where he was accompanied by State vice-president, RL Chargotra, coordinator, Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha, BD Thapa and coordinator, Raipur-Domana Vidhan Sabha, Behari Lal Digra.
He stressed upon the Omar Government and Principal opposition party-PDP led by Mufti Mohd Sayeed to deliberate jointly on the issue in the light of UN resolution for Human Rights protection and grant citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees.
