Srinagar, Feb 15: A protest march at Lal Chowk of Awami Itehad Party (AIP) workers headed by Independent Legislator Abdul Rasheed Sheikh was foiled today by police against the civilian killings in Pulwama district.
Witnesses said dozens of AIP workers converged on Zero Bridge here and attempted to march towards Lal Chowk – the city centre. However the police foiled their attempt and detained them near Poloview. The AIP workers were protesting against the civilian killings that took place yesterday after a militant was gunned down in Kakapora area of Pulwama district.
Police had already placed legislator Rasheed under house detention at Jawahar Nagar as he was scheduled to go to Pulwama.
