Srinagar, Nov 29: Police today foiled the proposed seminar of hardline Hurriyat faction titled ‘Islam – protector of humanity’ at Hyderpora in city outskirts here.
Police had sealed the lane leading to house of Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, which is also his office, since morning and no one was allowed to proceed ahead. The Hurriyat had invited several separatists, religious scholars and clerics and academicians in the seminar.
Geelani, meanwhile, has condemned the foiling of the seminar. The separatist leader said that there would have been no bearing on the law and order or transport movement if the seminar would have been allowed.
He said that police also detained several Hurriyat activists who staged protest against the ban on seminar at Hyderpora.
