SRINAGAR, Mar16: Police today foiled lock down programme of Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractor’s Coordin-ation Committee (JKCCCC) and detained dozens of them.
A JKCCCC spokesman said that the ‘lock down’ programme of Chief Engineering Complex at Rajbagh was called to press for their demand of payment of ‘pending bills’ of more than Rs 700 crores.
The JKCCCC members who appeared in the Chief Engineering Complex Rajbagh were shouting anti Government slogans and were planning to lock its main gate, but police swung into action and foiled their march.
As soon as the protesters proceeded towards the office, a large contingent of police swung into action and bundled dozens of protesters. Several protesting contractors were detained in Raj Bagh Police Station.
Farooq Ahmad Dar, General Secretary JKCCCC said that withholding of the massive funds is heavily telling on the contractors.
