SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Police today foiled a march of teachers to Raj Bhawan who were protesting to press for their demands.
Hundreds of teachers assembled at Partap Park under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) headed by Qayoom Wani and held protest demonstration against Government’s failure to implement 7th Pay Commission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and head teachers and de-linking of their salary from MHRD funds.
Holding placards in their hands and shouting slogans in favour of their demands, the protesting teachers marched towards Governor House but a heavy contingent of police deployed at the spot swung into action and dispersed the protesting teachers by using colored water cannon on them.
Dozens of protesting teachers including union leaders were bundled in a police vehicle and lodged at Kothi Bagh Police station.
