Police evict protesting students on JU campus

JAMMU, July 20: A female faculty member and some students sustained minor injuries in a clash like situation near the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat on Jammu University campus when Police used force to evict protesting students, here this evening.
The protesting students, mostly from different Law Schools affiliated to Jammu University, were agitating against unprecedented delay in holding the backlog exams and also demanding curtailment in the syllabus.
As the protesting students tried to block vehicle of the Vice-Chancellor, Police swung into action and in the melee, some protesters sustained bruises. A female faculty member, who was trying to pacify the protesting students, fell down and got injured.
Even as the protesting students dispersed after the Police action, they alleged that the university administration was not listening to their grievances. They announced to intensify their protest from tomorrow.
