Authorities said that on March 15, 2025, Police Station Pattan received a written complaint from the Assistant Executive Engineer, Mechanical Irrigation Sub Division Pattan, regarding a theft incident at the Lift Irrigation & De-Watering Scheme structure at Gund Ibrahim.

“A known habitual thief, who was reportedly roaming in the area of Trikolbal Gund Ibrahim days before the incident,” police said.
Despite multiple raids at various locations, the suspect managed to evade arrest, police added, further strengthening suspicion about his involvement.
However, acting on specific intelligence and technical inputs, it was revealed that the suspect was heading toward Mirgund in a Mahindra Bolero load carrier bearing registration number JK05M-0894.
