SRINAGAR : A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, official sources said here last night.
They said a group of unidentified gunmen entered the house of police constable Rafiq Ahmed Mir of IRP 12th battalion at Hassanporabagh in Kulgam and fired at him from point blank range.
Mir died on the spot, they said, adding the assailants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
A massive search operation has been launched to nab the gunmen responsible for the killing of the police constable.
