Police constable booked on corruption charges

JAMMU, Aug 13: Vigilance Organization Jammu today booked a Police constable for demanding and accepting bribe in lieu of getting a person recruited in Police Department.
A case FIR number 27/2018, under section 5 (1) (d), read with section 4-A of PC Act,   punishable under section 5 (2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, was registered against
Constable Nazir Hussain Shah (Number 601/J),   working as Moharir constable.
The instant case has been registered on the basis of complaint lodged by one Mohd Aslam of Poonch before the State Vigilance Commission J&K alleging therein that Constable Nazir Hussain Shah, then working as Moharir Constable in Police Station Mandi of Poonch District, had demanded and accepted Rs 75,000/- from him in lieu of getting his son recruited as Constable in Police Department. The enquiry conducted reveals that said constable had taken bribe amount of Rs 75,000/- from the complainant on the pretext of getting his son appointed in the Police Department.
