Police busts gang of vehicle lifters, recovers 8 bikes

SAMBA, Feb 4: Samba police busted a gang of two wheeler lifters and recovered eight stolen bikes from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal near here, today.
To give impetus in the ongoing investigation in the vehicle theft cases registered at Police Station Ghagwal, SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, constituted a special team headed by SHO, Ghagwal Inspector, Rakesh Sharma under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Mohammad Usman which succeeded in the recovery of eight stolen bikes and arrested three vehicle lifters.
The vehicle lifters who were arrested by the police included, Maskeen Ali, son of Ali Hussain of Lakhanpur district Kathua, Mohammad Rafi, son of Mohammad Qazi of Playi tehsil, Hiranagar district Kathua and Rashid Ali, son of Shetto of Khui Blassa, tehsil Hiranagar, district Kathua.
On sustained interrogation of the arrested persons, recoveries of stolen bikes were made from the various locations in the district Samba as well as from other districts of J&K.
The details of recovered bikes included four Splendours with Chassis Numbers MBLHAR084JHC10158, 06F16C06486, MBLHAW098KHD16304 and MBLHAR086JHK56771, Bajaj Discover with Chassis No, MD2A15BZXFRE67180, TVS Apache with Chassis No, MD634BE43H2D37198, Bajaj Ct 100 with Chassis No, MD2DDDUZZMWK45348 and TVS Apache with Chassis No, MD634BE40H2E53765.
Further investigation in the matter is going on, police said.
It said that Samba Police has recently recovered 12 stolen vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Bari-Brahmana.
