Srinagar, Apr 3: Police have booked Ramky Infrastructure Limited for using fake iron rods under the brand name of Steel Authority of India Limited in construction of the Srinagar- Qazi gund Highway.
Station House Officer, Panthachowk, Farooq Ahmad, told Excelsior that SAIL authorities complained to police that Ramky is using iron rods under their brand name.
Ahmad said that police raided the construction site of a flyover near Silver Star Hotel in Nowgam and found that the iron rods brand name did not match with that of SAIL.
“We filed an FIR 25/ 2014 under Section 420 against SAIL and it Chairman Allaayodhya Rami Reddy,” Ahmad said.
The SHO said that SAIL manufactures iron under the brand name SAIL TMT 44 and PQR, but the Ramky Infrastructure Limited was using the iron road with brand name SAIL TMT 500D, which is the duplicate of SAIL and is substandard.
The police official said they have started investigating the case and will seize all the iron used on construction of Srinagar-Qazigund Highway.
