SRINAGAR, July 22: Thirtynine shopkeepers have been booked in the summer capital here over profiteering.
A police spokesman said on the directions of SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar, police today booked about 39 shopkeepers including chicken sellers, butchers, green grocers, bakers under Section 3/7 Essential Commodities Act.
In these connections 39 case FIRs have been lodged in different police stations of the city and all the 39 shopkeepers were presented before the local magistrates and the cases were challaned within 24 hours, he said.
“SSP Srinagar said that, the drive will continue during the week,” the spokesman said.
