SAMBA, Feb, 22: District police Samba has arrested a narcotics smuggler and recovered approximately 1.5 quintal of Poppy Straw like substance from his possession at Police Naka, Mansar in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Samba.
Police said a team of Police Post (PP), Mansar during routine vehicle checking intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number JK03E-6766 at Naka Mansar, Samba.
While checking the truck, eight plastic sacks were found loaded with Poppy Straw like substance each weighing approximately 15-20 kgs which were concealed tactfully beneath other plastic sacks of raw wool.
The accused driver identified as Firdous Ahmed Yatoo son of Mohammad Akbar Yatoo of Sheikhpoora Moran, Pulwama has been arrested on the spot and the contraband item along with vehicle was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 33/2022 U/S 8/15/25 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation started.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan.
