SAMBA, Feb 13: Under the guidance of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, police achieved another major success in its continued operation against narcotic smugglers and suppliers, arrested one more Interstate heroin supplier and smuggler and recovered heroin (Chitta) weighing 100 grams approximately worth rupees five lacs in market along with cash amounting to Rs 3830.00 and one Android mobile phone from his possession.
The arrested Interstate narcotic supplier has been identified as Akram Khan alias Imran, son of Makhan of Chak Murrar, tehsil Bishnah, district, Jammu. A case FIR No. 23/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Vijaypur and investigation started.
Alert officials of a ‘naka’ near Vijaypur comprising of SDPO Vijaypur, Priyanka Kumari and SHO Vijaypur, Tribhawan Khajuria under the supervision of Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary, while conducting checking found one suspicious person getting off the bus ahead of Naka point and trying to move away to avoid checking. Upon this, he was intercepted and during his personal search, heroin like substance (‘Chitta’), cash and Android mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
During preliminary questioning, Akram disclosed that he used to supply heroin to the local suppliers after smuggling the same from Punjab and has been operating for the last four years. The local suppliers would supply the same to the individual addicts in the areas of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and adjoining districts. SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that total seven notorious suppliers of narcotic substances including three women narcotic smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police within a short period of one month and traps and raids are being organized to track down the other anti-social elements involved in narcotic trafficking and drugs supplying and all-out efforts are being made by police to make Samba district narcotics and drugs free.
