RAMBAN, May 10: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar registered seven FIRs, arrested six bovine smugglers, rescued 88 bovines and seized the seven vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Batote intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK20-A/2822 and JK14-A/1617.
During checking of these vehicles cops found 12 bovines loaded in cruel manner and were being transported illegally. The accused persons managed to escape from the spot.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Chanderkote intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers HR68-B/7908 and JK19-A/8326. During checking of these vehicles cops found 34 bovines loaded in cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Two persons were arrested in this case and they were Talib Hussain, son of Ashraf, resident of Chamalwas, Tehsil Banihal and Badar Din, son of Dilawar Din, resident of Kanga Tehsil, District Ramban.
In yet another case, cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number PB56-AN/5804 and held one Parvez Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, resident of Kupwara.
During checking of the vehicle cops found 24 bovines loaded in the vehicle which in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
In one more incident cops from Police Station Ramsoo intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK21-D/0182 and held one Mohd Irshad, son of Mohd Yaqoob, resident of Anantnag. While checking the vehicle cops found 10 bovines loaded inside with cruelty and were being transported illegally.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Dharamkund intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK19-A/3197 and held two persons Mohd Shabir, son of Shafi, resident of Ramban and Zakir Hussain, son of Yousuf, resident of Sumber Tehsil and District Ramban and rescued 8 bovines from the vehicle.
Subsequently, FIR No.65/2024 and FIR No. 66/2024 were registered at Police Station Batote, FIR No. 64/2024 and 65/2024 at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR No. 101/2024 at Police Station Ramban, FIR No.59/2024 at Police Station Ramsoo and FIR No. 22/2024 at Police Station Dharamkund under Section 188 IPC and under Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Investigation has been initiated into these cases.
