SRINAGAR, June 1: Police arrested three drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts today.
A Police spokesman said that a drug peddler was arrested with huge quantity of contraband substance in Kulgam district and two drug peddlers were nabbed in Bejbehara area of Anantnag district with of charas.
He said a police party of Kulgam led by SHO Qaimoh and DySP Mirbazar laid a naka and during checking, a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK02BN 3882 was intercepted.
“On checking, 750 grams of charas was recovered from the vehicle. A case FIR Number 25/2018 under Section 8/15 NDPS was registered and investigation was taken up,” he said
The spokesman said that in Anantnag district, a police party led by SHO Bijbehara under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara laid a naka at Kiri Kadal Bijbehara and during checking, two suspect persons were intercepted and 11 kilograms of charas was recovered from their possession.
He identified the drug peddlers as Javid Ahmad Wani, a resident of Kharbagh Kupwara and Zahid Ahmad Wani, a resident of Hayar Bijbehara.
“In this regard, a case FIR No. 83/2018 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation is going on,” he said.
