Police arrest six people in attempt to murder case in Akhnoor

JAMMU, May 8: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Akhnoor have successfully solved an attempt to murder case by arresting all six accused involved in the brutal attack on a local resident.
According to police, the case was registered following a complaint by one SubashChander, a resident of Gurha Brahmana, who reported that his son Sunil Kumar was attacked on the evening of May 4 while he was leaving home for some domestic work.
The attackers, armed with sharp-edged weapons, assaulted him due to an old rivalry, inflicting serious injuries on his chest and other parts of the body, they said.
The police said, some passers-by shifted the victim to a nearby hospital.
On the basis of the complaint, they said, a case FIR number 87/2025 was registered at Police Station Akhnoor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act.
Accordingly, they said, a team from Akhnoor Police Station, led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Virender Gupta and SP Rural Brijesh Sharma, conducted raids at multiple locations and arrested all the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vikas Singh alias Vinay, Sahil Sharma alias Lalu, Rahul Singh alias Labba alias Gullu, Ashok Singh alias Raja, Raju Singh and Sahil Kumar alias Jinnu.
Police said the accused had formed a local gang of criminals and committed the crime in an organized manner. Some of them are also involved in previous cases of robbery and attempt to murder.
Police confirmed that the main accused, Vikas Singh alias Vinay, is a known history-sheeter at Police Station Akhnoor and had earlier been detained under the Public Safety Act.
