Police, Army hold meet with VDCs to strengthen security grid

JAMMU, Aug 11: With the view to strengthen the security in the border areas of Zone RS Pura, a joint meeting of officers of J&K Police and Army was conducted in Sub Division RS Pura under the chairmanship of Brigadier, 162 Infantry Brigade SKS Chouhan with the Village Defence Committee (VDC) members residing in the jurisdiction of Police Stations RS Pura, Arnia, Bishnah and Miran Sahib.
On the onset, SP Headquarters Jammu, Randheer Singh highlighted the main aim of this meeting which was to strengthen the working of VDCs, to sensitize them about the present security scenario in the area to make them aware about the modus operandi of the anti-national elements and to motivate them to be eyes and ears of the security agencies working in the area in order to thwart the attempts of anti-social elements.
The members during the meeting have raised certain points, for which on spot directions were given to concerned SHOs.
The duties of VDCs were enlisted and were given examples of bravery by VDCs and civilians in district Udhampur recently. They were advised to perform duties with similar commitment and also lend a helping hand in the security grid of the area.
During the meet, VDCs were advised to work shoulder to shoulder with Police in ensuring a complete check over the activities of anti-national and anti-social elements in the area.
Among others present were CO 12 Kamon Col MD Bhal, CO 4 Dogra, Col Mukesh Sharma, Col 4 Raj Rifles Col Adarsh Bhandari, Cap Vijay Bhargav, Harjeet Singh SDPO RS Pura, all SHOs/IC BPPs of Zone RS Pura and more than 120 VDC members.
