Pol leaders condemn killing of policeman

JAMMU, Jan 29: Leaders across party lines condemned the killing of a Head Constable of J&K Police (JKP) by the terrorists in Hassanpora, Bijbehara, this evening.
JKP Head Constable Ali Mohammad Ganie was fired upon by militants near his residence at Hasanpora in the Tabala area of Bijbehara, Anantnag. He was shifted to a hospital in critical condition where he succumbed. The martyred official was posted at Police Station Kulgam.
While condemning the killing, president of National Conference and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah, “Violence in any of its manifestations is always unacceptable and will yield nothing except further death and destruction. The vicious cycle of death has caused much loss to human lives in J&K while devastating the socio-economic conditions of the people during the last over three decades. It is high time for such incidents to be stopped now. My heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved family.”
Condemning the killing, Omar Abdullah said, “I unequivocally condemn the cowardly attack on JKP Head Constable Ali Mohammad Ganaie. I send my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.” Party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Party MP Hasnain Masoodi, Sakina Itoo and Dr Bashir Veeri also condemned the killing and prayed for peace to the soul of the deceased.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Ghulam Ahmad Mir termed the killing as barbaric. Such shameful acts have no place in a civilized society, deserve strong condemnation by all, Mir added. JKPCC president shared grief with bereaved family and prayed for courage to them to bear the irreparable loss.
Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari termed the cowardly attack as extremely heart wrenching while expressing his profound solidarity with the bereaved family. Bukhari asserted that violence holds no space or legitimacy in any civilized society and such acts have only worsened the collective situation in Jammu and Kashmir for a long time now. He urged the Government to disburse adequate ex-gratia relief to the family of the slain cop besides putting forth efforts to impede such heinous acts pre-emptively so that no precious lives are lost.
