JAMMU, Jan 3: Government of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) has acceded to the request of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (SSCK), New Delhi, to install two sign boards at Sharda Peeth for maintaining the sanctity of the Temple.
In a press release issued today, SSCK, Ravinder Pandita, Head & founder of the committee, said that recently they received a Government Order No 9973-80 dated 31.12.2018 from the office of Director General, Tourism & Archaeology, PoK, acceding to their request of putting up Sign boards at the Sharda Peeth for maintaining sanctity of the temple.
“Sharda Peeth is currently been guarded by BM5-AK Brigade of Pak army and the DG in his circular has directed concerned DC, SSP, AD Tourism amongst others to implement the order,” the release said, adding the Committee has requested the PoK Government to put up two sign boards, one near the stairs (entry point) of Sharda premises and other before entering temple, to make visitors aware of putting off their shoes before entering the Temple, to maintain its religious sanctity as it is a highly revered religious place of Kashmiri Pandits.
“We have requested DG Archaeology, PoK to mark the boundaries of Sharda Peeth and take steps to preserve the Peeth from encroachments and deforestation leading to soil erosion” Ravinder Pandita said in a press release today.
He said Save Sharda Committee Kashmir has developed people to people contact across LoC and is pressing hard for reopening of the pilgrimage as well as exploring Sharda -the oldest civilization. “The Committee has already written with reminder representations to PM, HM and EAM regarding the reopening of the pilgrimage particularly in the wake of Kartarpur Corridor reopening,” Pandita said.
