JAMMU, May 3: Chairman, SOS International (an organization for PoK Displaced Persons), Rajiv Chuni, today said that displaced persons of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) witnessed horrible and terrible time during their cleansing from PoK in 1947 and since then they have only lost and attained nothing.
“It is hard to communicate in the way they have been living their life and struggling for their rights in their own country since 1947 but no one experiences the pain of foremost victims of Jammu and Kashmir; what will be more pathetic than this”, he said addressing a mammoth rally of PoK DPs here at Rehari.
Thousands of PoK DPs thronged the rally and expressed their resentment over hindrance in implementing the package for PoK DPs approved by the erstwhile State Government last year.
“Although, it is impossible to compensate for the mental trauma which has been faced by PoK DPs as no one has the ability to do so but at least Government could reduce the pain of PoK DPs by providing them some relief but none of the erstwhile Governments took a step towards PoK DPs and left them in lurch without taking care of their aspirations”, Chuni said
He further said that PoK DPs are struggling for their rights to give their wards their due right as being enjoyed by Kashmiri Pandits since their migration, adding that keeping biased eye on different communities is only widening the gap which needs to be filled immediately before it gets too late.
Alleging that PoK DPs are disappointed from Government’s behaviour, he urged the Government to redress the problems of PoK DPs before they take serious steps.
Sat Sharma, MLA Jammu West, who was also present on the occasion, said that demands and package put forth by SOS International will be fulfilled in the PDP-BJP Coalition Government and the PoK DPs will be given their due right as early as possible.
“BJP is committed to resolve the problems of PoK DPs and in this regard, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has formed a committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh. This committee will work as bridge between the State and the Centre that will eradicate all hurdles regarding the settlement package”, he added.
