JAMMU, Jan 24: The families uprooted from Pak occupied areas of Mirpur, Muzaffrabad, Kotli and Poonch held protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
The displaced persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) under the banner of Jammu Kashmir POJK Refugee 1947, 65 and 71, led by Rachhpal Singh Chib ( president) assembled near Press Club and then started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands. They also raised slogans against former Provincial Rehabilitation Officer (PRO) and Additional Commissioner, Jammu.
Rachhpal Singh Chib, president of the Front, while addressing the gathering extended thanks to the Prime Minister and Minister in PMO Dr Jitender Singh for their efforts in announcing package for the POJK DPs. But he said that the same was not adequate. Mr Chib said that the DPs are hopeful that the Prime Minister would issue necessary directions to Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to include the other recommendations as also forwarded by JPC for making this package a complete.
He said that the rehabilitation package will be incomplete till other demands of 10 % reservation for the wards of DPs in professional institutions and Jobs, reservation of 8 Assembly and 2 Council seats for DPs are fulfilled and Development Board for the POJK DPs and Chhamb/ West Pakistan refugees is framed.
He also criticised the former PRO and alleged that another package announced about fifteen years was not implemented.
