JAMMU, July 4: PoJK Refugee Front has urged the State and the Union Governments for providing comprehensive settlement package to the refugees uprooted due to Pak aggression in 1947 and Chhamb Refugees of 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars.
The president of the Front, Rachhpal Singh Chib said that despite repeated appeals and demonstrations, the State Government, time and again, is showing cold shoulders to the burning issue, adding that the Govt ordered Police action and used teargas, many a time, to disperse the demonstrators.
The demonstrators said that their leaders were jailed for no fault of theirs.
They further said that the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs of India on July 30, 2013 had invited Mr Rachhpal to deliberate on the implementation of the recommendations contained in 137th Report of the DRSC on Home Affairs on rehabilitation of J&K Migrants, adding the Sub-Committee of the Parliamentary Standing Committee had also visited Jammu on November 7, 2013 to hear the grievances of the displaced persons of Jammu and Kashmir.
“After hearing the grievances of the displaced persons, the State Government was asked to put up before the RSC Sub-Committee the proposed draft package for rehabilitation and the final settlement of refugees and the State Govt was supposed to submit the same to Parliamentary Standing Committee for further submission to the MHA of India, instead the State Govt referred it to the State Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Finance Minister in order to block the process,” expressed the demonstrators.
The Front has appealed all the refugees to vote against National Conference and Congress candidates in the coming Assembly elections for their anti-refugee policies.
