JAMMU, Dec 15: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Pandita has taken serious exception to the statement that a KP organization would be bringing a separate Temple Bill in concurrence with PNBMT.
Roshan Lal Pandita, while addressing the meeting termed the statement misleading. He apprised the members that in 2011 various KP organizations and leading individuals entrusted the PNBMT to bring a Bill in the Assembly for the formation of a Board on the lines of Wakf Board or Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. This Board would have duly elected members who would ensure the proper management, preservation and protection of the temples and their properties. The Bill has been prepared by several legal luminaries. With this background, if any organization thinks of bringing a separate Bill that would tantamount to creating chaos and confusion in the community. “We appeal to all to strengthen the PNBMT so that efforts can be redoubled for the passage of the Bill”.
Dr.R.L.Bhat said that the members of the Trust worked tirelessly to create a global consciousness among the KP diaspora regarding the pathetic condition of temples and shrines in Kashmir. To bring a Bill in the Assembly. Trust met the leaders of all the political parties and leading opinion makers in erstwhile, the State and outside besides, the Chief Ministers and enlisted their support for the passage of the Bill. The Temples Bill was also tabled in the Assembly once but due to political reasons could not be passed. The members of the Trust were not disheartened by this temporary setback but have redoubled their efforts for the passage of the Bill.
Virender Raina, president Panun Kashmir (PK) said that the Government must act with urgency in the matter.
Secretary of the Trust Sundri Lal Koul apprised the members regarding the preparations for the Chetna Divas. The office bearers who were present included vice chairman Shiban Khaibri, general secretary Shadi Lal Koul Rais besides, M.M.Thaploo, Kashmiri Lal, H.L.Bhat, Sanjay Pandita, Subhash Chatta, B.L.Zar and Bushan Lal Nadimarg.
