JAMMU, May 31: Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) has strongly condemned the unabated spree of encroachment and usurpation of the properties belonging to different temples and shrines in Kashmir valley and asked the State Government to get into action in not only getting such encroachments vacated but arrest such land mafia whose evil eyes are on such properties like land, cremation grounds, trees, orchards etc belonging to the shrines and temples.
In a meeting of its Executive Committee members here, today, anguish and resentment was expressed in respect of encroachment of 10 kanals of land belonging to the Jawala Ji Shrine at Khrew in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. The nefarious attempts of communal and anti national elements in grabbing temples and shrines properties have been on the rise since day one of the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandit community from Kashmir all these 29 years.
Citing another instance of such land grabbing , the members also referred to encroachment of four kanals of cremation ground at village Kramgsoo in Anantnag district by some villagers. Such encroachments lay bare the complete lackadaisical approach of the State Government, in particular the district administration as also the violation of various court judgments and rulings in favour of removing encroachments immediately on receipt of information.
The meeting impressed upon the State administration to take immediate cognizance of the encroachments of Hindu temples and shrines to restore confidence in the ethnic minority – the Kashmiri Pandits displaced from Kashmir.
It said the non – negotiable and irreversible demand of having a Shrines and Temples Bill passed by the State Legislature gets more urgency and legitimacy looking to usurping and encroaching upon the properties belonging to Hindu shrines and temples in Kashmir valley, it added.
