JAMMU, Mar 6: Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) which is spearheading a campaign for passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill in Kashmir today appealed the government to restore the shrines and temples land grabbed by unscrupulous elements in the Valley.
The Trust said the deputy Commissioners of other districts in Kashmir should take a cue from DC Anantnag who on the basis of an application filed through Kashmiri Lal senior advocate of J&K High Court has restored the land of holy shrine of Mata Shiva Bhagwati Akingam which was encroached by some mafia groups.
The Trust said that DC Anantnag acted swiftly and issued directives to his subordinate officers in the Department to restore the land to the shrine. The Trust expressed the hope that other DCs in rest of Valley will also act in the same way and get the hundreds kanals of land encroached by some unscrupulous elements restored to the shrines.
The Trust also made it clear that its activities are confined to formation of shrine board and other social matters and it has to do nothing with formation  of Coordination Committees etc and nor any of its activists had taken part in any protest launched for inclusion of other members of community in Coordination Committee.
